Introduction text (informed consent)

Hello, my name is %q16%. I am here to ask you to participate in a study that is being conducted by UNHCR in partnership with the National Institute of Statistics in the Democratic Republic of Congo .
We are employed by the National Insitute of Statistics.
We are studying the living conditions in the Grand Kasai in order to adapt humanitarian and development interventions by various partners. The study specifically focuses on displaced persons, returned internally displaced persons, repatriated refugees and households of the host community. We would like to ask you a number of questions on several topics. Your answers will contribute to better informed interventions. Your answers will be strictly confidential and all personal data will be anonymized.
The interview will last for approximately 2 hours. You are free to decline your participation. You are also not obliged to answer certain questions if you do not want to. Moreover, you can end this interview at any time without any consequences for you.
Do you agree to participate in this survey?

He cannot stop thinking that he should be there to help them and that leaving the others behind was cowardly. Let's focus for a moment on voting in elections. I would like to describe two situations to you. Both situations are hypothetical but they describe situations under which people go and cast a vote in an election. After describing you both situations, you will see that they differ slightly and I will ask you in which situation you would be more likely to go and vote. Your answer will help us to understand in which situations people are more likely to vote and what prevents people from voting. I will now introduce the two situations.

INTERVIEWER! Now tell the respondent:

I would now like to understand better how people like you make a decision to accommodate displaced people. To do that, I will now present you with two profiles of displaced families. Imagine that both of the two displaced families arrive in your community. After introducing these two families to you, I will ask you to tell me which family you would rather host. Imagine that you must host one of them. Listen carefully to be able to make this decision. Your answer will help us to understand how people make the decision to assist others in displacement. I will now introduce the two families.
