The Syrian refugee population in Lebanon remains one of the largest concentration of refugees per capita in the world.\nThe 2024 Vulnerability Assessment of Syrian Refugees in Lebanon (VASyR) was the twelfth annual survey assessing the situation of Syrian refugees in Lebanon to identify changes and trends in their vulnerabilities. Considering the prolonged socio-economic status in Lebanon, it was crucial to provide needs-based estimates on Syrian refugees in the country. \n","analysis_unit":"Household","data_kind":"Sample survey data [ssd]","notes":"The scope includes:\n- key indicators on household demographics\n- safety and security\n- accomodation\n- health\n- food security\n- livelihoods\n- expenditures\n- food consumption\n- coping strategies and assistance\n- education\n","nation":[{"name":"Lebanon","abbreviation":"LBN"}],"keywords":[{"keyword":"VASyR"}],"topics":[{"topic":"Health"},{"topic":"Livelihood and Social cohesion"},{"topic":"Health and Nutrition"},{"topic":"Food security"},{"topic":"Water Sanitation Hygiene"},{"topic":"Protection"},{"topic":"Education"},{"topic":"Cash Assistance"},{"topic":"Income Generation"},{"topic":"Basic Needs"}],"coll_dates":[{"start":"2024-05-24","end":"2024-06-22"}]},"method":{"data_collection":{"coll_mode":["Computer Assisted Personal Interview [capi]"],"research_instrument":"The VASyR questionnaire collected data at the household level and individual level including demographics, legal documentation, safety and security, shelter, WASH, health, food security, livelihoods, expenditures, food consumption, debt, coping strategies and assistance, as well as questions specifically relating to women, children and people with disabilities.","coll_situation":"Data for the 2024 VASyR was collected between 24 May and 22 June 2024 across all regions in Lebanon. A total of 4,922 Syrian refugee households were randomly selected from UNHCR\u2019s database. The sample was designed to be representative at both the district and governorate levels. Face-to-face interviews were conducted using a questionnaire administered to the head of household or another adult household member, which included approximately 750 conditional and unconditional questions. The interview lasted on average 1.5 hours. Data was collected at the household and individual levels, and included details pertaining to general demographics, legal documentation, safety and security, shelter, water, sanitation and hygiene, health, food security, livelihoods, expenditures, food consumption, debt, coping strategies and assistance.","weight":"Data collected through this assessment was weighted at the district level based on the population of refugees in each district. Weighting was necessary to ensure that the geographical distribution of the population was reflected in the analysis and to compensate for the unequal probabilities of a household being included in the sample. The normalized weight was calculated for each district using the following formula:\nNormalised weight = (total sample frame of the district\/ total national sample frame) \/ (total number of households visited in the district \/ total number of households visited)","data_collectors":[{"name":"Caritas"},{"name":"MEDAIR"},{"name":"Makhzoumi Foundation"},{"name":"SHEILD"}]}},"data_access":{"dataset_use":{"cit_req":"UNHCR, WFP, UNICEF (2024).
