The survey aimed to identify families in need of cash assistance and to capture the evolving needs of diverse population groups, including host communities, refugees, internally displaced people (IDPs), returnees, and asylum-seekers. The assessment covers multiple sectors such as basic needs, protection, shelter, WASH, education, legal assistance, and community services. Findings provide evidence to guide UNHCR\u2019s operational response, particularly in addressing urgent vulnerabilities and informing solutions related to cash-based interventions, voluntary repatriation, sustainable reintegration, and local integration.","geog_coverage":"Afghanistan","analysis_unit":"Household","universe":"Host community, refugees, internally displaced people (IDPs), IDP returnees, refugee returnees, and asylum-seekers residing in Afghanistan.","notes":"The scope includes:\n- Demographic and return profiles\n- Protection risks and coping strategies\n- Access to services (education, healthcare, shelter, water and sanitation)\n- Livelihoods and income\n- Food security and basic needs\n- Community engagement and social cohesion\n- Mental health and psychosocial support\n- Connectivity and information access\n- Reintegration challenges and local solutions","nation":[{"name":"Afghanistan","abbreviation":"AFG"}],"keywords":[{"keyword":"Multi-Sectoral Need Assessment"},{"keyword":"MSNA"}],"topics":[{"topic":"Health"},{"topic":"Water Sanitation Hygiene"},{"topic":"Food security"},{"topic":"Emergency Shelter and NFI"},{"topic":"Education"},{"topic":"Livelihood and Social cohesion"},{"topic":"Mental Health and Psychosocial Support"},{"topic":"Connectivity"},{"topic":"Return"},{"topic":"Basic Needs"},{"topic":"Cash Assistance"}],"coll_dates":[{"start":"2025-04-21","end":"2025-06-30"}]},"method":{"data_collection":{"sampling_procedure":"Simple random sampling","coll_mode":["Other [oth]"],"research_instrument":"Standard HMSNA questionnaire covering demographics, displacement status, shelter, WASH, protection, education, livelihoods, income\/expenditure, and basic needs.","weight":"No weights were applied, as the survey followed a simple random sampling design.","data_collectors":[{"name":"United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR)"}]}},"data_access":{"dataset_use":{"cit_req":"UNHCR (2025).
