The 2022 Results Monitoring Survey (RMS) in Burundi was conducted to assess key indicators across various sectors, including education, healthcare, livelihoods, protection, shelter, and water and sanitation for refugees, internally displaced persons (IDPs), and returnees. The survey sampled 796 households: 380 refugee households, 325 returnee households, and 91 IDP households, using a stratified sampling design. Data collection was carried out through face-to-face interviews using a structured questionnaire translated into French, Kirundi, and English, ensuring statistical representation across population groups. The survey was completed on December 18, 2022, and the results contribute to UNHCR's multi-year strategy, supporting evidence-based reporting to key stakeholders.

The 2022 RMS employed a stratified proportional sampling method. Households were stratified based on their population group (refugees, returnees, IDPs) and their locations in various regions of Burundi. A total of 796 households were interviewed: 380 refugee households, 325 returnee households, and 91 IDP households, ensuring proportionate representation. The survey was conducted across multiple administrative regions, including Bujumbura Mairie, Cankuzo, Karusi, Kirundo, Muyinga, Ngozi, and Ruyigi, with interviews carried out face-to-face using mobile data collection tools. No weighting was applied in the analysis.
