Mexico has seen a significant influx of individuals and groups engaged in human mobility, often using similar routes and means of transport for a variety of reasons. This diverse population includes asylum seekers, refugees, victims of human trafficking, unaccompanied and separated children, stateless persons, and migrants in vulnerable situations.
To better understand these dynamics, a protection monitoring initiative was conducted to identify trends, demographic profiles, and the protection and food security needs of people on the move. The collected data focused on the drivers of human mobility, the characteristics of individuals in transit, the risks encountered during their journeys, conditions in transit countries, as well as food security, child protection, and future movement intentions.
