    Abstract

The 2024 Socioeconomic and Protection Survey of Internally Displaced Persons and Host Communities in Burkina Faso provides one of the first large-scale quantitative assessments of living conditions, vulnerabilities, and protection dynamics among displaced populations and host households. Conducted by the National Institute of Statistics and Demography (INSD) in partnership with UNHCR, the study covers six regions affected by forced displacement and is based on a probabilistic sample of over 2,000 households.
The findings highlight a severe and multidimensional crisis affecting internally displaced persons (IDPs), particularly in terms of poverty and food security, reflecting limited access to resources, livelihoods, and social services.
By combining socioeconomic and protection information, this dataset provides a comprehensive evidence base to better understand the intersection between poverty, displacement, and protection risks. The dataset serves as a critical tool for strengthening data-driven humanitarian and development responses, improving the targeting of assistance, and informing policies aimed at resilience-building and durable solutions.
