Other Household Survey [hh/oth]
The UNHCR Results Monitoring Survey (RMS) conducted in Burkina Faso from June to August 2022 aimed to gather data on refugees, asylum seekers, and internally displaced persons (IDPs) to monitor impact and outcome indicators in education, healthcare, livelihoods, protection concerns, shelter, and water and sanitation. Using a standard structured questionnaire, data was collected at both household and individual levels through Computer-Assisted Personal Interviewing (CAPI) and Computer-Assisted Telephone Interviewing (CATI). The sample frames were sourced from the “Conseil National de Secours d'Urgence et de Réhabilitation (CONASUR)” in December 2021 for IDPs and UNHCR's registration database, ProGresv4, for refugees and asylum seekers, resulting in 667 observations for RAS, 6 for refugee returnees, and 704 for IDPs. The survey results, which were submitted by August 28, 2022, contribute to UNHCR’s evidence base for multi-year strategic reporting to key stakeholders.

The UNHCR Burkina Faso Country Office (BFA-CO), in coordination with the Regional Bureau in Dakar, provided a comprehensive list of sites for refugees and asylum seekers (RAS) based on the proGres database, updated in January 2022. These sites, the smallest geographic units in the database, are mapped to their respective regions, provinces, and municipalities, serving as the sampling frame for the RAS population in Burkina Faso. This frame included 25,220 households, covering 70 percent of the total RAS population in the country. For IDPs, the sampling frame was derived from CONASUR’s IDP registration database, updated in December 2021, which provides information at the village level. This database includes 143,996 IDP households, representing 91 percent of the IDP population in Burkina Faso. The survey employed a stratified cluster sampling method to ensure representative data collection. For more information, refer to the available documentation.
